KICKOFF conference

On 1 October 2019, the official launch conference for the Franco-German program « Make our planet again great » (MOPGA) took place in the Musée du Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac (Program). For two days the 55 laureates of the program met and presented their work in the presence of representatives of the host institutions. They were welcomed by both the French Minister for Higher Education Research and Innovation, Frédérique Vidal, as well as the German Minister for Education and Research, Anja Karliczek. The MOPGA program, piloted by the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and endowed with 60 million euros on the French side and 15 million euros on the German side, offers researchers over a period of several years the opportunity to conduct research on three main topics: Climate change, the Earth system and energy system transformation.

With their research projects the laureates want to draw attention to the global climate crise and expressed their wish to help policy makers and stake holders to rethinking economy and society by signing a joint statement during the conference.
